Coalfish is a ray-finned fish, related to Cod. Coalfish is 60 cm long on average and very common in the North Sea. Its diet consists mainly of sprat, sand eel, whiting and prawns.
The fish meat is firm, has a full taste and is a good substitute for Cod.

Recipe: Oven dish of coalfish with mustard sauce:
600 g carrots, 2 tbsp fat, 150 ml vegetable stock, 150 g light cream,1 tbsp mustard, 3 tbsp chopped parsley, 600 g coalfish fillets, salt and pepper.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Cut the carrots into pieces. Melt the fat in the pan and stew the carrots.
Add the stock and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Stir the cream with mustard and 2 tbsp parsley.
Pat the coalfish fillets dry and season with salt and pepper.
Stir half of the cream mixture through the carrots and pour into a greased oven dish.
Lay the fish fillets on top and spoon the rest of the mustard cream over.
Bake for 20-25 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees. Finish off with parsley.
Delicious with mashed potatoes or rice.
Thawing tip: place in cold water with the packaging for 15-20 minutes.

Tous nos poissons sont filetés et congelés sauf petites exceptions. Le poisson est immédiatement congelé après la pêche afin de préserver au mieux sa fraîcheur.
