Tetragon is often called summer spinach and is eaten like this. Gives good harvests in summer and is therefore a good alternative to spinach, which tends to go to seed at this season. The tetragone has the advantage of naturally re-seeding itself from season to season.


Sow in a nursery in April, 2-3 cm deep. Transplant at 70 x 80 cm spacing. It is best to soak the seeds for 24 hours in water before sowing. Slow growth at first but vigorous thereafter. Harvest approximately 3 months after sowing.
